MORE CYBER FANS NEEDED
Another block of
tickets has been purchased for the Bartlett show and we
need more Suzy fans that are interested in filling
those seats!! The actual seat reservations will
be made in February before they are available to the
general public so we're hoping to get the whole group
together and up close.
Write to the webmaster address below and we'll get you signed up for the fun!
SIGN-UP DEADLINE NEARS
For those interested in joining in, we must know by the end of January. A block of tickets will be purchased so that everyone signed up can sit together in the auditorium. We're hoping to gather for lunch and one of the many superb Memphis BBQ joints before heading to the show. If you're interested in participating, please contact webmaster@bogguss.com soon!. SUZY CYBER FANS PARTY PLANS FOR MEMPHIS?
Suzy is playing in Bartlett, TN on Saturday March 27th, 2004 at the Barlett Performing Arts Center. This is a five year old, 350 seat auditorium in a town on the outskirts of Memphis, TN. Several folks on the mailing list and in the weekly chats have suggested making this show a sort of cyber fan club party. So here's the deal. One of the regular chatters found that we can buy blocks of tickets (groups of 10) and then with some luck, try to get the blocks together on the day they assign seats (some sort of first come first pick scheme). If there were enough interest (and help with some of the planning) we'd try to work out some suggested hotel accommodations etc. for those wanting to attend. We're trying to figure out how many folks might be interested in attending the show and possibly some other group activities as part of the Cyber Fans Party Plan. We'd like to hear if you are interested, so how 'bout it! Anyone interested in a trip to Memphis in March 2004? Please write to us at Webmaster@bogguss.com if you're interested. We'll let you know if a Suzy Cyber Fans Party develops. If you're from the Memphis area and able to help out with planning, we'd like to hear from you!! |

SUZY CYBER FANS FRONT AND CENTER
The folks that signed up for tickets to the Bartlett, TN Suzy Cyber Fan Party got good news today when our fearless Cyber Fan Leader, Rus, was caller number three in the reservation session early this morning. Thanks to his efforts, everyone in the group will be in either the FIRST or SECOND row at the show!! Besides getting together with the other Suzy Cyber fans for a planned BBQ Lunch at one of the best Memphis BBQ establishments, there are other plans brewing before everyone spends the evening front and center at Suzy's show. If you aren't among those signed up, there is still a chance you can get one of the last free tickets. Write us at Webmaster@bogguss.com right away if you would like to join in the fun. When the last of the Cyber Fans tickets are gone, you'll have missed a wonderful chance to meet some great fans from all over the country and at least one from Europe as well while enjoying Suzy's show from right up front. A BIG "THANKS" goes out to Rus for spearheading the idea and all his efforts on behalf of the Cyber Fans about to converge on Memphis at the end of the month!! We hope to see you there!!. |

SUZY APPEARS ON BOB APPLEGATE'S "APPLEGEEZER" CD
Long time friend of Suzy, Bob Applegate, has released a CD entitled "Applegeezer." Applegate is the namesake for the group Applegate & Company, a number of talented musicians based in Peoria, IL with whom Suzy performed in the early days of her musical career. Suzy sang harmony on one of Applegate & Company's early albums and members of the group appeared on Suzy's first LP (1981) entitled Suzy. Suzy and Applegate & Company were also featured on an early 80's Peoria PBS special called Reflections. The acoustic show was an early showcase of Suzy's talents and those of Bob Applegate and the other members of the group. When Suzy returned to ISU for Christmas show in late 2003, she invited Bob to perform during the show. It was a rare treat for the performers as well to reunite two talented musicians after having followed different musical paths for over twenty years. For those in the audience that had seen the two perform years before it was a wonderful chance to see them together on stage once again. Applegeezer includes a track entitled All The Diamonds to which Suzy lends her voice as a harmony vocalist. You can purchase the CD at the CDBaby link below and also hear clips from the CD including All The Diamonds. You can also check a couple long track versions at Bob's site, also listed below. The liner notes for All The Diamonds includes the comment "Laying down harmony parts with Suzy Bogguss is a great way to spend a morning. Recorded in 1981." All The Diamonds was recorded in the early days of Suzy's career around the time she recorder her first LP. Editors Note: Applegeezer is a small quantity CDR style production with limited liner notes. CD Baby: www.cdbaby.com/cd/bobapplegate

Suzy
Bogguss and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra (NCO) to
Perform at Crockett Park on Sunday, June 27! Nashville, TN—Country artist Suzy Bogguss joins the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Paul Gambill, for a special concert under the stars at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater at Brentwood's Crockett Park at 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2004. The performance is part of the 10th annual Crocket Park Summer Concert Series of eight Sunday evening concerts throughout the summer. Bogguss replaces Raul Malo, originally slated for the event, who cancelled because of an extended concert tour. One of the few country artists able to walk the fine line between critical acclaim and commercial success, Bogguss has been admired by fans and critics alike for her unique vocal style, musicianship, and meaningful lyrics for nearly two decides. Her latest album Swing, co-produced with Asleep at the Wheel front man Ray Benson, shows Suzy is still evolving as an artist and has yet to reach her pinnacle. In 1989, Suzy entered the Top 15 with her song "Cross My Broken Heart," and again with a duet with Lee Greenwood, "Hopelessly Yours" in 1991. Her album Aces spawned three Top 10 hits – "Outbound Plane" "Aces," and "Letting Go." In 1992, she was awarded the Horizon Award for most promising new artist at the CMA Awards. Bogguss, joined by the NCO, will perform selections from Swing and past hits. The NCO opens the concert with mandolin great Matt Flinner, and NCO selections Masters in This Hall featuring NCO concertmaster David Davidson, and excerpts from Conversations in Silence, one of the orchestra's first works that helped define the NCO's unique offering of Music Without Boundaries. Recognized as one of America's most creative and innovative orchestras, the NCO continues to stretch musical boundaries and redefine perceptions of what a chamber orchestra can be. On June 13th, the NCO made its Bonnaroo debut, performing with Phish's Trey Anastasio for over 90,000 fans. The orchestra's 2003-2004 season included two commissioned works with The Nashville Ballet, as well as sold out performances with Russian sensations Bering Strait at The Factory in Franklin, and Alison Krauss + Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas at the Grand Ole Opry House. The June 27th concert is free to the public. For more information, contact the Nashville Chamber Orchestra at 615-256-6546. |

Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster
(***˝) (USA Today) In his grave 140 years, America's first professional songwriter can still make most modern ones look like hacks, especially with the likes of Mavis Staples, The Mavericks' Raul Malo and Alison Krauss (with cellist Yo Yo Ma) interpreting his exquisite melodies. Suzy Bogguss' winsome Ah, May the Red Rose Live Always is the revelation, but John Prine's creaky-porch rendition of My Old Kentucky Home matches voice to song perfectly. "Mansfield" |
